Thanks for all of you support for the rules (I'll get you the vote count).
The final edition is posted on the website. (if you find any spelling or other
housekeeping errors let us know and we'll clean them up in a couple of weeks).
Over the next two weeks we will be starting the process of becoming an
official organization. This process could likely take several months.
It is very important to provide support to builders. If you are held up
because you need technical help call me at 253-848-4732 (the same number as
always). If I'm not there call me on my cell phone at 253-209 4835.
Generally, I
try to answer email at least three times a day as well. Don't hesitate to ask
questions?
Our list server now has too much in the archives to sort through to find old
construction notes. Over the next few days we will assemble all of those
changes and clarifications on a PDF that will be kept up to date and accessible
from the home page. Every builder should visit this PDF often.
Over the next week expect to see some info on my visit to the Gougeon Plant
in Bay City, Michigan, the link and info about our carbon spar builder in the
US, and information about our first certified builder -- VMG Skiffs.
Before Christmas, we will have completed a comprehensive rigging manual that
will be sent (free) to builders upon receipt of their installed interior
bulkhead photos. This manual will cover everything from splicing to building
your
own spreaders, mast rigging, and all of the running rigging systems is much
detail.
It's exciting to get this painfully tiring process of rules writing and
debate finished. We have now completed the groundwork that will, with your
help,
allow the Swift Solo Class to become the leading single-handed skiff class in
the world. With a foundation of people who know how to make things happen (our
builders), we truly have the opportunity to make this a reality. The boats
you're building are the seeds of a class that promises to grow into something
significant.
Best regards,
Bram
