Ken,

Are you talking about the wedge looking block, or the pyramid? (You need both) The wedge goes
on the wings and holds the clam cleats. The pyramid shaped goes next the centerboard trunk
and holds 2 cheek blocks each. They are used to control cunningham. (One for the mainsail and one
for the jib) Look at the rigging manual for some better pictures.

It is placed along side the centerboard trunk. What goes on it? What does it do? Can't tell from the manual.
