Mark,
 
After the deck is glassed, you'll notice that the gunwale appears to bow  
downward toward the bow.  You'll find that you can maintain a nice amount  of 
overhang by scribing a long straight edge on the bottom edge of the  gunwale 
and 
cutting it straight (it will be about 1/2" narrower at the bow than  at 
station 6.
