Mark, that is the generally accepted solution. You can also make some nice end
stops. There are some pictures on the Catzooks email server (you will have to
dig or search) from Pat at VMG showing the neat job he did with this method.
Also look closely at other boats you will see a variety of variations

Would I create any problems in setting the jib track on blocks to hold it at
the right angle and mount it on the wing instead of grinding the edges so it
rests on the wing. This would raise the track about 5/8" placing it higher
above the sock.
