that is exactly the metal wire sheave mark. I think these high load blocks do 
not distort as much.

  This small black Ronstan kite block seems to work the best while testing with 
the mast down.  The small Harken HL block, in my hand, wants to twist even with 
no load on it binding the halyard between the mast and the cheeks of the block, 
it took quite a bit of effort to move the halyard, but the Ronstan block 
doesn't twist and the halyard moves freely.  I imagine the same thing was 
happening with the large Ronstan block originally in the kit.  I'll report back 
after Memorial Day weekend sailing.
