The end. Notice how twisted the tape leading to the roll is. Because of the overlap, the strands on the overlapping edge are longer than the strands not overlapping. Thus, you use a bit more tape from one side than the other. Pulling everything tight so the entire tape touches the bar requires a lot of force, and you wind up with twisted tape at the end.
