As it happens, the instructions for 410 say "Not recommended under dark paint or other surfaces subject to high temperatures"... and this will all be under (black) graphite. Drag. But it will mostly spend it's time next to the (cool) water, so I suppose that's ok. So for the final fairing I used 407 - which doesn't spread quite as easily, and is slightly harder to sand.
