On to 600 grit. I spent a bit of time with the 600 grit - I basically did one pass with 400, but then really dove in with 600. Both 400 and 600 like to "float" over the hull, they can't get below the sheet of water. To get around this, I would wet the surface, move the water away, sand a bit, then rinse.
