Cut the carbon. Once piece is 10” short, for an inner layer. The carbon is 50” wide, which is perfect since it means it can be cut in half lengthwise and both halves used for a piece on the centerboard. I've also pulled out the centre strands here, which helps cut (and align) quite a bit.
