I was originally going to put tee-nuts on this side of the transom bar (I've seen pictures of other people who have done this). But then I figured it wouldn't be pretty, and the bolts would be a bit long, and I'd probably scrape myself up as I passed by them. This way, I can at least try this out and see if I like it, and can always go back to the tee-nuts if necessary.
