Mast crane screwed into place (note that I drilled the first hole a wee bit too far down; it barely cut through the base of the crane insert). These are wood screws; the tips have been ground off so they don't catch anything. To drill the hole without drilling the halyard, I tied the halyard to a thin line (mason's line), and carefully pulled it in, then positioned everything and drilled.
