Good questions.
A pivoting centerboard is not allowed in the Swift Solo and would not work
because of design issues.
The depth of the water would cause some serious issues with the centerboard.
While I have no problem with sailing in the 5' of water that is prevalent in
places like Stuart Florida, rocky bottoms that have obstacles less than 3 feet
below the surface are a real problem. The mast becomes a bit of a problem
when you sail in water that is generally between 19 and 23 feet until you get
accustomed to the boat (shallower water generally keeps the boat from turtleing
far enough to be much of a problem).
