Ken,
 
If you cut the 2x6 to 72" outside radius (convex) you can't go  wrong.  The 
top of the bar will actually be about 73 1/2" radius.  You  have a fair amount 
of tolerance for the rudder cassette so if you place the bar  on the deck as 
shown, it will be fine.
