Those of us on the east coast who cant make it to Huntington Lake can perhaps
be consoled by the NYC Skiff League Regatta Weekend. In the past this regatta
has been a great event. It is open to all trap skiff classes and will be held
again around the labor day weekend next year. I have tentatively arranged for
the Sandy Hook Bay Catmaran Club to host the event in Sandy hook Bay NJ. We
need at least 5 boats to make a class regatta. Sandy Hook Bay is a great venue.
It has flat, wide open water in a large bay protected by a barrier island and a
2 mile long navy warship pier. The League Regatta is usually a 3 day event.
Camping is encouraged on the beach near your boats. BBQ, bathroom and hot
showers are available on site. Free food and light beverages will be provided
for the racers and guests each day and evening. There may also be a club
celebration in the evening for Labor day. The timing of this regatta will give
everyone plenty of time to sharpen those skiffy skills and also your skiffy
thirst :-)
Hope to see you all there.
Greg Ryan on behalf of
NYC Skiff League

  Ken,

This is a good question that needs to be added to the manual in future
editions.

It's best to use the new method of installing the track on top of the step
(instead of between as shown in the manual). This was pointed out some time
ago in an email to the server.

When you start sanding (grinding) the part of the tract that rests on the
deck at the top of the step (leave about 2 1/2 inches on each side) you'll want
to use the following method of determining the angle of tilt. You'll use the
two holes in the center of the track as a sight. They should intersect a
vertical line from the top center of the forestay fitting about 36" above the
top of the forestay flange. Another words, set a tape vertically on your
forestay fitting and sight past the 36" mark into the holes in the track. You
should see a full moon in each hole. If not, tip it until you do.

I thinking about Huntington Lake again this summer. Are you in for early
July (about a week of sailing)?

  Best regards,

  Bram
