Can a launcher throat be too high?

To all

In the process of building my launcher throat way back with Greg's marvelous 
foam core. My jig constructed with brad nails instead of screws imploded while 
I was away with full lay up. Needless to say all was lost. So I made my own 
not realizing my throat diameter might be too high being 11 !/4 "centerline. 
Will I have a problem?
