Ron,
 
Do not eliminate the glass tape between the layers of cedar.  On the  
outside, however, simply wrap the bar with carbon cloth or tape/epoxy and then  
coat 
it later with epoxy with graphite powder.  No need to cover the carbon  with 
glass.
