Try this place for a harness (BMS). It's made in Germany, decent cost
($120 with shipping), and extremely comfortable. I ordered mine and got
it within a week. Much better the magic marine harness I've been using.

Bram recommends these guys for a dry suit,
http://www.foldingkayak.com/sportswear.htm which you might want in
Montana.
Florida you could get by with a farmer john or something light in the
surfing range. It will be a month later than last year and for a
northerner
the water maybe refreshing.
I hear Hobie has some nice harnesses. Mike J. with 001 says he can sail
all
day in his.
