I guess I should put on my other hat,
NYC Skiffs LLC has made all the specialised hand made Swift parts that members
of the class have been buying, including the carbon forestay fittings, anodized
swift solo mast steps, adapter brackets and foam cores supplied to you from
Aquilo and VMG. Stocks of all carbon and alloy parts are running low at the
moment. I have only a few mast steps left but plenty of foam cores though
(except rails). You might recall me pleading with you all through this email
server to get requests in for parts last year and warning about a stock runout.
BTW I got zero response! After the nationals in April I will be able once again
to concentrate on really stocking up on parts for the class for the future.
I'd be more than glad to help people who are making their own parts, I know
Bram is committed to making the last part of the boat building process easy and
for the most part the pdf how- to's are easy to follow for all the parts you
need to make.
The parts we supply are
Foam cores for
spreaders
center board
rudder
throat
tapered tiller
toe rails
center rail
transom bar
We supply carbon skinned CB, Rudder, throat, transom bars. We will add a
convenient foam mold for the rudder cassette later this spring. (as a tip, if
you bought NYC Skiffs cores you might be able to use your foam saddles as lost
foam molds for the rudder and CB blocks, think about it, they should fit if
held spaced apart just a little. Acetone eats the foam out!).
Our anodised aluminium Swift Solo parts include a mast head fitting, Mast
step (like the 49er fitting but modified to accommodate the more complex Swift
rigging system and the function of the forestay fitting), compass/pivot-block
adapter.
We also manufacture a carbon forestay fitting with integrated sheaveless
downhaul for the jib and I hope to soon have about 10 of these in stock.
While the NYC Skiffs mast step is redesigned to suit our needs you can always
use a modified 49er mast step and also a 49er forestay fitting would work, just
like you can use a 49er rudder cassette with modified tiller and 49er CB and
rudder.
Though I have been busy with building a Swift Solo (funny enough) lately NYC
Skiffs LLC has been testing a new revision of the forestay fitting, a new
lightweight carbon outhaul rack idea from Bram, redesigned spreader cores, new
moulds for the forestay fittings, new compass/pivot-block adapters for the mast
step, a new floating vang collar, our new 3D vang arms and Al-honeycomb core
vang boomerang. NYC skiffs is also building light state of the art fully rigged
masts/boom combos and experimenting with composite-rod rigging. In the spring
we are going to start retailing sundry SS hardware kits and West System Epoxy
and fillers at a very competitive price, only for class members. This will
coincide with the NYCSKIFFS.COM website launch.
NYC Skiffs LLC is a for profit company which strives to keep the cost of its
custom, low production count parts as reasonable as possible and nevertheless
uses most of its resources to sponsor local Swift builders, Swift Solo skiff
and high performance sailing in the NE USA. We are a proud sponsor of the 06
Swift Solo Nationals. I am looking forward to meeting you all at the nationals
with my new Swift Solo, (or if worse comes to worse you will see me on the NYC
Skiffs coach boat and I will trade parts for a ride! :-).
Happy building

Last I heard no one was making the CB inserts. They are very easy to make
like the bulkheads with Bram's template. I'm not sure if there was anyone
making rudder cassettes to sell. You might be able to get a 49er cassette but
you will have to modify the tiller and it will be heavier than the carbon ones
that are being built. I too got lazy so that is what I did. I'm not sure who
was making the forestay fittings, vangs, and other parts. I purchased some of
those from VMG just before they closed shop. Most of the parts aren't that hard
to make. I just don't have a good area to work in. The hull and deck took all
the area I had and even then I could barely move.
Best of luck.
Someone who knows more please chime in. Greg?

i.e. I'm thinking I may want to buy the rudder box and tiller assembly. Is
there anyone who is still building these?
