  Will the moisture warp the strips apart, creating gaps between the strips?  
Would it be better to epoxy the inside while it's on the back and glass the 
outside without removing it?

  Because you won't have the time to build the cradle, I'd recommend that you 
leave the staples in it on the frames.  Sealing one side can be a problem with 
nothing to hold it in shape.
