I'd like the Stuart venue, we F-Boaters have a yearly warmup there in
december, pryor to KW, and the winds are usually fresh and warm water, and nice
people with camping, although not riverside, and plenty of motels. I would help
to organize and do some leg work if needed. In the winter, when you guys from
up in the frozen tundra need shot of wind and water, Florida would be my
choice. Steve and Tanya Marsh , owners of the largest Corsair Dealer are in
Stuart and they sell the spectrum of high perf boats ,mostly cats and tris, and
I am sure that they would help us. I have already introduced them to the
"SOLOCOCOLOCO" and they love it!!!
Florida atracts a wealth of speedfreaks from all walks, and they should be
properly introduded to the Swift Solo. I sailed the Mug race a couple of
months ago and noticed that the was a OD class, 5 boats min, of Raiders, a
plastic skiff, single, 2sails?. Just rambling. Pepe

  Subject: First Regatta Re-schedule

  Hi all,
Work has been so hectic it looks like I am going to be behind my schedule to
get the boat finished by mid September for the first regatta. I've been talking
to a lot of people about their foam cores for toe rails, tapered tillers,
spreaders and blades etc. etc; It seems like a lot of people will also be in my
situation with an almost, but not quite, finished boat. Our sails have also
been on the slow boat from China so none of us are getting any practice in. I'd
like to propose the suggestion that we move the Regatta from September into the
winter and perhaps move the venue to Stuart Florida where it is plenty warm
enough to get together in the winter or just before the spring or whenever we
can all agree. This is mainly going to affect the few organized and diligent
people who have raced to get their boats done on time. With their indulgence I
think we can get a whole lot more boats on the line for the first Regatta. In
any case those with completed boats get the benefit of practice during the rest
of summer. Are there any strong reactions to this suggestion, either way??
