Good news,
Except for 17 minor changes, the new sails look great. The changes include
such things as the sail bag being too small in diameter, the cheeks on the
window pocket need to be transparent so you can see your vang lever, the clew
grommet is 1/8" too high, the cunningham straps need to be denser so the hook
does not penetrate the strap when you're trying to hook it up, and the color
of the tape. All of these things add up, however, the workmanship and shape
is excellent. These things will be changed and the sails will now be
produced and mailed in about three weeks. Expect shipping and customs to take
a
week or two.
It's been a long haul and, like everything else, the time involved exceeded
our expectations. We won't get a second chance with mistakes in our new
class so it is important that everything be top quality the first time around.
Thanks for your patience. As discussed earlier, it is probably a good thing
to postpone our first regatta for this and other reasons. Also, the idea of
sailing in Florida in the middle of the winter is pretty appealing. Talk to
your wives / girlfriends about joining you. Stuart is a great place with
good beaches, lots to see, and an amazing assortment of sea birds.
Thanks for your concern about the knee, however, it is getting better fast
and I plan to sail this Thursday evening if the wind cooperates (either quite
light or over 12 knots--six to 10 knots is tougher on the knees).
Best regards,
Bram
