No,  Wrap the extension with rigging tape, put the wire tie around the  tape 
loosely, slip the shock cord inside the wire tie and tie an overhand knot  in 
the end and then cinch the tie down tight.  The knot will keep it from  
pulling through.  Cover the knot and wire tie with more rigging tape
