Cameron,
Welcome aboard. Is there a reason you don't want to use a stapler? If you
could consistently shoot nails half way it would probably work. Be careful of
the nail gun putting dents in the cedar. Cedar is very soft and some guns just
to depress the safety would leave a dent, much less the recoil. I just use a
manual staple gun, and put 5 or 6 layers of duct tape over the end for a
cushion.
Good luck, and keep us posted on progress.

Thanks, Bram. I'm very much looking forward to both the building and
sailing. The great community of builders, and the catzooks site and list, were
in no small part reasons for thinking I could attempt such an undertaking : )
And I hate to start out by asking a question, but... I was curious if
anyone had attempted to use a pin nailer rather than a stapler to attach
strips. I was thinking that if the pressure was turned down enough, you could
fire a 1" pin nail about 1/2 way into a strip and then remove it with a tack
puller when the time came. Any thoughts, gentlemen?
Thanks!
