I've done something like this on my boat and love it. I used it a lot a few weeks back sailing on Bear Lake with Mark White and David Kerr. We had winds ranging from 5kts to 30kts and when it was marginal trapping for me, it was much nicer to be able to trap higher. The advantage of the two stage system is you don't end up with 30' of line draggin when trapping very high. Only two slightly long tails instead of one very long one. Also I can adjust whil on the wire without having to come in and adjust a slip splice. This is also nice in areas that tend to have very variable conditions where you go from high to low trapping very often. The winds we were in, I could have adjusted the trap almost as much as the sheets if I had one more hand.

I was hope you could lets us know what you thoughts were on the trap system you were using in Florida.

Attached is a rough drawing of the system as I remember it...

I've been think about going to it but I wanted to hear your thoughts before I made the change.

Thanks,
