If you are using the NYC Skiffs tapered foam core to make your tiller you will have eaten the foam out of the cassette end of the tiller with acetone and filled with epoxy 410 before attaching it to the ruder cassette. Now that it is on the cassette eat the rest of the foam out of the tiller, scrape it out with a stick if necessary. Make an epoxy 410 cap on the tip of the tiller end (this is going to look a Bit like the tip of a penis:-) and drill into the hollow space through the cap. Cut a small v shaped hole in the underside of the tiller about 1/2 way back. Fish the shock cords through the underneath hole and out through the tip. Fix the shockcords onto the tiller extensions. Tension to the desired tension then put a couple of knots in the shock cord just after the exit hole, setting different tensions and holding power by wedging the knots in the V shaped hole. Check the shock cord every month or so for wear.

Greg

PS, do not fall on your tiller!
