In cross section, a couple inches back from the stem, running parallel
with the stem, the bow is shaped like a champagne glass. The stem
flares out like a flute at the top. If you take the angle off the bow
profile, you will pick up the right length. The knuckle is where the
two pieces of the bottom join. By measuring forward to the right
length and double checking with the angle off the keel strake you will
come in ok. I only have scanned a couple shots of my boat, but you can
see where the keel strakes meet. I'm doing my whole boat bright which
is why there are accent pieces on the bottom. Tonight, I'll scan shots
of the lofting, the bow cut and the rough piece for the stem. I'm
placing the stem this week, so I'll take some shots as it goes in. Look at the shots of the boat on the web site and the shape of the bow in the shots showing the forward point of the bow sprit. Notice how blunt the tip of the bow section becomes. More later. Keith
