Wired Thing and A Series of Unfortunate Events have never been varnished again since they had their first coats. There has been almost no maintenence on Events in the three years it has been trashed around and I think it looked just as good as I first saw it, one or two small hook marks thats all. This boat had a few coats of epoxy and a few coats of "varnish" which is not hard. Covered, this will do for another 3 years. If Bram had used 2 part perfection varnish I think 5or 6 years would show no maintenence except if he hooks it in a capsize. Cedar is good in fresh or salt if the skins are pierced. Another advantage of the preservatives present surounding the particular linear carbon tube arangement found in the Swift Solos core!
