Hi Bram:

I love graphics on boats - you are right there! They definitely overide

numbers. Unfortunately I am comlpletely out of funds for boats or

graphics at the current time. I would be willing to come to Florida

as race comittee if I could get some time on the water in a Swift.

Thanks for your input.  You are clearly correct.  One of the mistakes I made was to believe that the sails were completely opaque in the non window areas and that overlapping the numbers on opposite sides would not make any difference.  When the sun shines, that is not the case and it does make a big difference.

PS Greg's idea of having identifying graphics on every main deserves a lot of consideration.  When you watch the 18's sail, there is no mention of sail numbers at all.  They are identified by name.  Hopefully we can get someone with the ability to do high quality graphic appliques at a reasonable cost for the class.
