Good work Jordan,

Good to see how you are powering along. I'd better get down to garage after
this or you'll beat OZ1 into the water

PS You can keep your South Australian waters - too cold for us Queenslanders!!

Hi everyone

Oz boat No2 here. Just wanted to share some information. I got off to a
fairly slow start, tracking down the carbon and the S glass took a fair
while, then the wood took a while etc etc. Anyway before you know it 3
months had passed. I used the time wisely though. I looked at a lot of
resin systems and came back to the West System. I spoke to a few boat
builders about technique. As a result, I am doing my layups a little
differently to the manual and am very happy with the result

I have been powering since the materials arrived a month a go. I have
made the bulkheads, the soldiers, the transom, the transom bar, the
centre rail, the vang post and I am just putting together the
centreboard structure now. I am not making the fitting bases yet because
I have my own strong idea's on rigging out boats. I will do them once I
have my fittings. Next is the strongback and building the boat.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, I have brought a new house. Beautiful
location, needs a little work, (after the boat) but no shed. So I am
about to build a shed, so I am on hold for another couple of months.

As some of you know, I write for an Australian Sailing magazine.
Recently I have tested the RS700 and the Musto for the Mag and I am
writing a series of stories for the mag as well and then I will do a
test. Can't wait to get it on the water.

Attached is a photo to show you how hardy we Aussies are. It gets quite
cold in the Southern parts of Oz and we are in the middle of winter. As
you can see it doesn't stop me getting out for a ride on a miserable
day, (I think it only reached 20 degrees C that day). Shocking weather,
I don't know how we stand it!!

Cheers
