To those getting ready, this is a very key point. For me, the best way to get those last six inches is to take the haliard down to some thing you can turn on and then back through the loop on the haliard to get a 2:1 purchase. Sometimes you can run the haliard through one of the blocks used for the cunningham at the mast step. For the first time, make your loop so that it just makes the first tooth and make the loop large enough to go over the whole comb. The haliard will stretch and you'll find yourself getting to the last tooth and it helps to have the loop so that it will let all of the teeth go through rather than just big enough to accept one tooth. A bigger loop makes opening it under stress easier as well.

Bill,
After looking further, you need to move the sleeve up. You also need to
make sure you raise your halyard further or the headboard puts a lot of stress
on the sail track when you pull on the vang.
