Steve,
Aussies...always trying to do things the hard way. If you use a router bit
with a rub collar you shouldn't have much of a problem, and is probably the
safest way of doing the job in respect of not taking out too much material.
Just keep the router vertical. Maybe make up a mock trunk and bottom and
practice on it. I can't think of any other safe way of not removing too much
material with some sort of power tool.

Subject: Solutions for a coward
I'm at the stage of chipping out the hole in the bottom of the boat for the
dagger board.
I know the fastest solution is to use a router but I've decided not to as I
have very limited experience with them and digging a hole in the bottom of the
boat is not the place to broaden this experience.
I've been very slowly getting the hole closer to the edge of the centreboard
case using a combination of saws, drills and rasps.
Does anyone have a suggestion to speed this process up or do I just have to
accept it will be slow unless I reach for the router??
Cheers
Steve
