Outhaul in stock Available to ship http://www.apsltd.com/Tree/d6000/e5538.asp
this was chosen because the bottom surface is flat.
The gooseneck receiver does indeed go inside the upper surface of the boom look
at the plans for the details they are well spelled out. The part is instock and
ready to ship from Annapolis performance sail. See below

Greg,
the part # for the goose neck receiver is RON 2528, and is out of stock, not
only that but the picture of the part looks like it should be mounted under the
boom not inside, looks like it has a base on it. All I need is basically a
tube to insert the goose neck into, bonded in the boom. As far as the out haul
is concerned there is a part in the package RON 2331(fine tune stay adjuster),
is that to be used as the outhaul, don't know where else it would go, might
make a fine hood ornament for my truck though.

I believe the Spars parts kit comes with the boom gooseneck receiver. If
not, or you don't have, it get the Ronstan part from APS or Fisheries.
The outhaul has gone through a series of iterations. We started with a
stainless fitting (which is in your spars parts kit) Quite a while ago Bram and
I were discussing (read BS'ing) about a system used on model boats to
automatically ease and tighten the outhaul. After this he tried a very
expensive outhaul micro track and car system but has recently made a carbon
version of the old stainless fitting and ripped the track and car off his boom.
In practical terms, as the Swift is an apparent wind trap boat, there is
neither the time nor the urgency to get in to the boom to adjust that setting
while racing. Bram's last comments to me about it was, "stick either with the
simple carbon or simple stainless versions of the quickpin outhaul rack". There
you have it from the oracle.
My 2c is, use what's in the kit.

Hi Robert,
well the stainless tube is out...didn't have the right size, so I think
I'll make a tube out of carbon strands...the goose neck is made of some kind of
plastic, so no worry with electrolysis. Will you be in FL in April?

Originally Bram was using a shroud spacer. 'U' shaped with holes for
pins. I noticed that on "A Series of Unfortunate Events" he had a small block
with on a track so he could adjust it while on the water.
The tube would probably work but my concern, though slight, would be
that it would not bond well to the glue and twist out at some later date.
Things that are very smooth and uniform in shape don't tend to like to stay
where you put them. It would also be a good idea to use the same metal as the
pin on the gooseneck. This would reduce the electrolysis.

What are we using for the outhaul rack on the boom, didn't see it on
the list for fisheries? Can I use a stainless tube for the goose neck receiver
bonded in the boom?
Sincerely,
Mark
