Mark, for what it's worth, I made a filler and fiber mix which I dammed up
inside my boom. I then just drilled into the epoxy and used that for my
gooseneck to go into. It has lasted a year and a half without any side effects.
As far as the RF2331 goes, I would prefer to find a better solution, as you
have to cut a section of this component off (it is meant to be a shroud
calibrator) Every one of these Ronstan parts that I have cut off, starts
rusting in sea water!
Greg, the R2350 (RWO) part looks better, but there is one concern there. How
high are the holes off the boom when installed. The outhaul on our sails is
set fairly high in the sail and you are normally doing a serious balancing act
when you are putting the pin through the sails. The rack needs to be tall
enough so that it is easy to get the sail in the rack and the pin through. The
beast is powered up at that stage and you are gripping the pin between your
teeth, while holding the bow into the wind with one foot, keeping yourself on
the beach with your other foot, holding the boom up with your other foot,
keeping the boat upright with your other foot, stopping your boards from
floating away with your other foot and doing last minute adjustments to your
harness with your other foot!!!! It is such a fun exercise, that one day I
sailed off the beach at Jericho and I had forgotten to put the pin in the
outhaul. As I sheeted in, I looked back to see Mike J rolling around on the
beach laughing. There is so much power on the battens that the thing will even
sail without being connected to the boom!

Mark, I imbeded mine in filler and epoxy to the inside top of the boom. It
has held together even under a load that tore the gooseneck off the mast.
