I thought the razor sharp edge was forward to cut the kelp, filet a fish or
cut those pesky lobster pot lines... Should we shorten it in southern
waters to protect the manatees?

I would cast my vote for limiting the size of the blade for swift solo
regatta's in order to keep the element of fairness with the fleet. I think
we certainly have more variables to work on for learning to sail this puppy
in the years to come than board lengths. As for mixed fleets, where there
is a handicap system in place, could we calculate that handicap for the
variable of the blade? The true variable needs to be the skill of the
sailor and his/her tactical decisions keeping the boat the constant. Every
boat is a compromise in which decisions need to be made, especially a
one-design.

Lastly, seeing it is a "Solo", I see 95% of my time sailing alone, so trying
out a 7' blade in the spirit of fun and speed, would be my own R&D. We
always can vote to change amendments in the future.
