Jordan, you'll probably do just fine. It had been almost 20 years since I'd been on anything other than a leadmine or a cat and about that long since I'd had a 505 and been on the wire. I had some issues the first regatta but seemed to have times of good speed even though the race day was probably my third time in my Swift. I've yet to get out in consistent 20+ so I can't say how well I'd do other than I'll probably be damn fast to weather. Down wind my skill drops and my fat ass drags. It will be good to have Swifts sailing in OZ.

We need more photo's of your progress!

Thanks guys. Your generosity is overwhelming. Robert, I was just trying to

Bram, I must admit, as my build gets closer to the finish, I am getting
really nervous. My experience only extends to 14 and 18's in skiffs. Though,
I do have a little experience on 49ers, Musto skiffs and the RS 700. But the
good thing is it is always light winds and flat water here, plus there are
no nasties in the water, so I have safe learning environment.

It is a shame you lot are so far away.

Jordan and Robert,

I think I will follow your suggestion Robert and add a section to my
website.

The conundrum in all of this is that, if you took away everything on the Swift that was learned from the Aussies, there wouldn't be a lot left. We're expecting big things from these guys.

On the other hand, they know almost nothing about sailing skiffs. We need
to urge every Yank to show some compassion by taking an Aussie under his
wing and sharing some wisdom (some of them don't even know what a skiff is).
Jordan and Steve, there's no need to thank us mates! It's just what we do.

Bram, one more thing you might think of is to add a "DON'T DO THIS" link
where you explain some of your failed attempts. I've found that sometimes
knowing what not to do is more important than what to do. Only posting
what you currently feel is the best case and saying this is the rule,
forces the Canucs and Aussies to buck the trend and go their own way. If
you show them the things that you've discarded, they'll have a better idea
of what to do to take us farther forward.
